Faithful Finances Resources

The 1% Challenge

We challenge you to increase your giving by 1% of your income this year. Here’s how the challenge works:
  • Calculate 1% of your income
  • Over the next year, or as soon as you’re able, increase your giving to the general ministry budget by that amount
  • Write your percentage increase commitment on an index card (contact the church office and we will be glad to send you a blank card and envelope – but any note card will do!) and seal it in an envelope with your name on the outside
  • Drop the envelope in the offering plate – or bring it to the church office – as an act of worship.
  • You will receive your commitment back in the mail, unopened. We encourage you to place the card somewhere you will see it often as a reminder of your commitment
A tale of two givers:
Joshua earns $60,000/year ($5,000/month). He gives $100/month to Rehobeth, which amounts to 2% of his income. Joshua is taking the 1% Challenge to increase his giving from 2% to 3%, so he gradually increases his offering from $100 to $150 each month. Well done, good and faithful servant!
Deborah earns $30,000/year ($2,500/month). She is committed to tithing and gives $250/month, 10% of her income, to Rehobeth. Deborah also takes the 1% Challenge to increase her giving to 11%, so she increases her offering from $250 to $275 each month. Well done, good and faithful servant!
(note: neither Joshua nor Deborah reflect actual, real-live people. Their stories exist here for illustrative purposes only)

Are you ready to take the challenge? We will pray earnestly for your success, and your continued growth in following Jesus.

John Wesley's Rules for Money

What does the Bible have to say about money? A lot, as it turns out. In our recent sermon series, "Money Wise: Three Simple Rules for Faithful Finances," we explored biblical wisdom about money, and we learned three rules that John Wesley (the founder of the Methodist movement) has for money:
  1. Earn All You Can
Live wholeheartedly into your vocation, the work God has called you into
  2. Save All You Can
A spirit of contentment and simplicity helps us use every transaction as an act of faithfulness
  3. Give All You Can
